Rizal Park & Luneta Park

The Rizal Monument (Photo by Benson Kua)
Formerly called Bagumbayan (New Town) during the Spanish times, Luneta Park got its present name since it was in the shape of a half-moon or a lunette. On February 17, 1872, three Filipino priests (Jose Burgos, Mariano Gomez and Jacinto Zamora or collectively known as Gomburza) were martyred here after being accused of spearheading the 1872 Cavite uprising. On July 4, 1946, the Republic of the Philippines was declared as fully independent on this site. I am aware that Luneta Park (lunette). i wondered that Philippines was can be independent...

Luneta itself is wide. From Roxas Boulevard all the way to Taft Avenue, it is a civic-park for the people lined up by several museums, mini-gardens, government offices, a planetarium, a national library, a grandstand and a newly-opened marine park. This is Kilometer zero at its peak. Luneta seems to be the heart of everything Manila.

I don't know people who problem because of Rizal Jose and as i don't know what do he problems... I think maybe Rizal Jose don't have problem when people who have jealous so they kill to him.. i miss him because i want him to life, whatever i want to say "THANK YOU" to Rizal Jose for helping our Filipino and Philippines.

Located right at the heart of Manila, Luneta Park or Riza Park was the Bagumbayan of the by-gone days. Back then, when you gravely committed atrocity to the Spanish authorities, executions were held here. It was here that an ilustrado and our country’s national hero Jose Rizal was publicly shot dead by the Spanish troops because he was accused of insinuating rebellion in once colonized Philippines.
